Materials

– Approx. 20 grams of cotton blend e.g. Babytoly organic cotton (50g – 105m)
– Approx. 5 grams of each color for the beanie
– a bit of white yarn for the beard
– Hook size 2.5 mm,
– a bit of thinner black cotton yarn embroidering the eyes
– tapestry needle
– Fiberfill,
– Scissors.

Head

Crochet in your base color light brown.

3. (1 sc, inc) 6 x – 18
4. (inc) 18x – 36
5. (5 sc, inc) 6x – 42
6.-17. 12 rd 42 sc – 42
18. (5 sc, dec) 6x – 36
19. (4 sc, dec) 6x – 30
Fill the head with fiberfill.
Let a long tail, flatten the opening and close it by sewing it with your tapestry needle. Fasten off and sew in end.

Beanie

Take two of your additional colors, here chocolate and snow.
Start with chocolate and crochet a ch-sp of 42 chains and close it with a slst to a circle.
Now go on crocheting in spirals.
Attention: First rd is crocheted in hde and rd 2 – 25 in sc.

Close the opening, knot both threads and leave 2 cm left before cutting them.

Finishing

Take a long thread of your main color light brown and embroider the nose at rd 9 of the head. It goes over 3 stitches horizontally. Make about 8 stitches for a clearly visible nose.
Embroider with thin black yarn the eyes at the same height as the nose (rd 9).
Each eye goes over 2 stitches horizontally. The distance to each other goes over approx. 9 stitches.
The mouth is embroidered with black or brown yarn at rd 6. It goes over 2 stitches horizontally.
The eyebrows are embroidered with white yarn. They go from rd 11 -12 with a stitch diagonally.
Give your little santa a bit of blush in his cute face. You can take your rouge or a bee wax pencil.
If you want Santa as a wrapping decoration or key chain you can add a band in the middle of rd 10 of the beanie.

Beard

The beard goes over 4 stitches horizontally at rd 8 directly under the nose and consists of 4 loops.
Hold your little Santa upside down.
Take your snow yarn and pull it at rd 8 right under the nose between one stitch and crochet:
1. 8 ch and a slst in the first st
2. 1 sc in the next, 10 ch and one slst in the first sc of rd 2
3. 1 sc in the next, 10 ch and one slst in the first sc of rd 3
4. 1 sc in the next, 8 ch and on slst in the first sc of rd 4
End with a slst, fasten off and sew in end.

Put santa’s beanie on his head and pull it down until it ends on the eyebrows. In the back it contacts with the neck at rd 2 from the head. Sew the beanie around the head.
